I set up my skype account and all that, but how do I take calls and all the rest?
I am using jaws by the way...perhaps someone can point me to a tutorial?

You can either use skread to get skype alerts or the jaws scripts. To take calls, yu can either enable the hotkeys, or press alt+C, A, then enter. All you need to do is go into the options, and everything you need is right there. TO add contacts, its under the contacts menu if you are using skype 4. O one more thing enable the accessiblity feauteres under I think its view.

yeah and use skype 3.8, 4.0 is horrible with accesibillity!

Post 4 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Wednesday, 13-May-2009 12:19:25

no it is not. Use 4.0. It works fine for everyone I know. At least try it. Let me guess you use the jaws scripts for your skype, and the only reason your not using 4.0 is because the scripts don't work yet?

skype don't work well without scripts, beter to stay with a version that scripts are stable with until the bugs for 4 are ironed out.

to post 4, exactly!

to post number 6, screed is a programme you can get for skype that uses the sappy voices. it tells you when someone signs in, when someone calls etc, how ever i always preffered skypewatch, which is the jaws voice

So, either skread or skypewatch, they'll work with window-eyes? It isn't just a jaws thing?

Post 9 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Friday, 15-May-2009 12:48:29

skypewatch is only for jaws.

Post 10 by margorp (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Friday, 15-May-2009 13:31:25

if anyone is having trouble finding SKRead i'd look on the jaws-users site for it. it's on the programs page if i remember right

Does skype watch work with windows vista?

Post 14 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Monday, 18-May-2009 18:28:30

I see no reason y it shouldn't. If you have jaws and can follow instructions from the site, then yeah it'll work.

This site has scripts:
http://users.visi.com/~dgl/skype/
4.0 does work with some tweaking.
I am sticking to 3.8 just because, but I've tried 4.0 and it's not bad.

the jaws users web-site has a hole section devoted to Skype.
http://www.jaws-users.com
I think this link works.

Also being new to skype i have a question i have been pondering. Can you use one of the external hardware skype phones to make skype to skype calls or receive skype to skype calls if you are just simply using the free skype account with no skype out minutes or without a phone number assigned to your skype account?
